Now, Let's move to the fourth reading and playing exercise. You'll find it quite easy and nice. So, just go and enjoy it?.
Remember that so we can understand each other, we have stated some name conventions.
Your left hand fingers will be refered as:
Index finger = 1
Middle finger = 2
Ring finger = 3
Small finger = 4
And your right hand fingers will be refered as:
Thumb finer = p
Index finger = i
Middle finger = m
Ring finger = a
Now, let's go to Exercise 4!

Remember to pluck all bass notes with a downward stroke of your thumb finger.
All notes played on the 3rd, 2nd and 1st strings will be plucked with an upward stroke of your index and middle fingers, alternatively.
When you press a string with a finger of your left hand, that finger should not touch another string, as then that string will not sound correctly if plucked.
In this exercise, you should focus on complete durations for all notes. Donīt interrupt the sounds, either by lifting the left hand fingers before the note duration is complete, or by touching the strings with the right hand fingers, anticipating the following stroke.
Remember what you learned in a previous lesson about the way your right hand fingers will pluck strings, and the necesary strength to press strings with your left hand so you get a clean sound.
Keep trying until you get:
- A clean sound each time you pluck a string
- A continuous playing, without delaying from one bar to he next
- A whole duration of the note
Now, come on! Go try it!
See you in the next lesson, coming soon.
